Scientific coordinator: Maurizio De Lucia
SM&RES (Sensor, Measurement and Solar Technology) is a research group led by Prof. Maurizio De Lucia and supported by young researchers dedicated to applied research and technology transfer. It is a research team that considers multidisciplinarity as one of its founding elements. Its work focuses mainly on sensors and measurement systems aimed at advancing research in the development of energy machines and systems. Low- and high-TRL research is integrated with technological development, where industrial collaborations enable technology transfer, bridging the gap between academic excellence and applied innovation.
Starting from the development of measurement systems, the group’s activities focus on two main areas: advanced measurements in turbomachinery, and the development of solar concentrators designed to support energy conversion and sustainability in industrial and residential settings. These include the study and development of concentrating systems for PED (Positive Energy District) applications, hybrid systems (PV solar and solar thermal with TES – Thermal Energy Storage) within Zero-Emission contexts.
The group collaborates with academic and industrial partners at both national and international levels. Two of the group’s research topics are included in the Three-Year National Research Plans (2025–2027).
