Quality Assurance

Departments are the fundamental organizational structures responsible for conducting scientific research, teaching and training activities, as well as for transferring knowledge and fostering innovation.
They are therefore key actors within the Quality Assurance System of the University of Florence.
As part of QA processes, they prepare annually:

  • Departmental Development Plan: a strategic planning document drafted in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan, based on a three-year framework with annual updates, and integrated with faculty staffing plans and the economic and financial budget.
  • Annual Monitoring and Review Report: a document providing analysis and self-assessment of the main activities and results achieved during the reference year in teaching, research, knowledge valorization, and resource management. Access to the document is restricted.

The formats, procedures, and deadlines are defined by the University’s QA System in compliance with the requirements of ANVUR’s AVA 3 model.

The main actors involved in departmental QA processes include the Director, the Council, the Steering and Self-Assessment Committee, and any delegates for specific areas.

For the implementation of QA processes relating to Degree Programs and PhD Programs, the Department also relies on the activities of the Program Bodies for which it is responsible and of the Schools in which it participates.
