Quality Assurance

Departments are primary actors in the University's Quality Assurance (QA) System.
As part of the Quality Assurance processes, Departments prepare annually:

• The Departmental Development Plan: a strategic planning document for the Department, drawn up in accordance with the University's Strategic Plan, on a three-year basis with annual updates, integrated with the planning of teaching and research staff and with the economic and financial budget.
• The Annual Monitoring and Periodic Review Report: a document analysing and self-assessing the main activities and results achieved during the reference year in teaching, research and knowledge enhancement, and resource management.

The documents indicated above are prepared according to formats, procedures and timelines defined by specific acts and circulars issued by the University of Florence, in compliance with the requirements established by ANVUR and the University's QA System. The main actors involved in the Department's QA processes are the Head of Department, Department Board, Advisory and Self-Assessment Committee (CIA), and any delegates for specific matters. For the implementation of the QA processes of the Degree Programmes and Ph.D. Programmes, the Department also relies on the work of the Bodies of the Degree Programmes for which they are responsible and of the Schools in which they participate.
