The Manufacturing Technologies Research Laboratory (MTRL) at the University of Florence focuses on the development and optimization of advanced manufacturing technologies. Its research activities include the modeling and simulation of machining and additive processes, process optimization to enhance quality and productivity through the reduction of geometrical errors and vibrations, and the improvement of production planning. MTRL also conducts mechanical and metallurgical analyses, optimizes process parameters for additive manufacturing, and develops design and manufacturing solutions for the aerospace sector. Additional areas of focus include the integration of Industry 4.0 solutions, the assessment and reduction of the environmental footprint of manufacturing processes, and the development of repair solutions for metallic components. The laboratory is actively involved in numerous funded research projects and collaborates closely with local industries to promote the adoption of innovative technologies and organizational models.
