DIEF, through its commitment to research, advanced training, and collaborations with companies and institutions in the key areas of industrial engineering, supports the transition toward a more innovative, fair, and environmentally sustainable future. The interdisciplinary and innovation-driven approach of DIEF researchers enables the development of sustainable technological and managerial solutions, contributing directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. In particular:

  • Research activities on road and railway vehicles, rehabilitative robotics, bioengineering, and technologies for cultural heritage and fashion contribute to improving people’s well-being (Goal 3) and to creating more inclusive, safe, and sustainable cities (Goal 11).
  • Work carried out in the fields of renewable energy, turbomachinery, engines and wind turbines, as well as eco-friendly refrigeration, supports the development of solutions for clean and affordable energy (Goal 7) and for tackling climate change (Goal 13).
  • Expertise in machine design and construction, advanced materials, Industry 4.0 technologies, and innovation management promotes resilient, responsible, and sustainable industrial development (Goal 9) and circular production models (Goal 12).
