The Materials Engineering Laboratory is an integral part of the interdepartmental MatchLab (Material Characterization Laboratory). As a consequence the availabel facilities allow the complete microstructural, chemical-physical, and mechanical investigation of all type of materials. In particular, in addition to the classical equipment for samples preparation and metallographyc observation, and the facilities for electrochemical and accelerated free corrosion tests, the laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for particle size analysis of powders (Malvern 3000E laser granulometer), for tribological tests (DUCOM POD 4.0 tribometer), and for assessing viscoelastic properties using dynamic mechanical analysis (NETZSCH DMA 303 Eplexor).
